AI CFO tools for small businesses
Tools described as an “AI CFO” fall into four groups. Some are built into your accounting software, such as Intuit Intelligence in QuickBooks and JAX in Xero. Some replace your ledger with an AI-first one, such as Digits. Some sit on top of your existing books, such as Vibe CFO for Xero, Fuelfinance’s AI CFO (in early access) and Nella. And reporting platforms such as Fathom add AI-written commentary to reports. Nella connects to QuickBooks or Xero and answers plain-English questions about your own numbers on the web, WhatsApp, ChatGPT or Claude. None of these replaces the judgment of a qualified accountant or CFO.
