QuickBooks AI (Intuit Intelligence) and Nella: what each one does
Intuit Intelligence is the AI built into QuickBooks. Intuit describes it as the engine that powers AI in QuickBooks, bringing accounting, payments, payroll and tax data into one view, with AI agents for areas such as accounting, payments, finance and sales tax, and plain-language questions about your business. Intuit says features vary by plan and some are in beta. Nella is a separate AI finance assistant: it connects to QuickBooks or Xero and answers plain-English questions about your own numbers — on the web, WhatsApp, ChatGPT or Claude — with a monthly management pack, anomaly flags on fixed rules, your federal filing dates and a Nella Score.

When QuickBooks’ own AI is the right tool
If you want AI working inside QuickBooks — on bookkeeping, payments, payroll or sales tax — Intuit Intelligence is built into the product for that. Nella does not calculate sales tax or nexus, and it does not cover state income or franchise taxes.
