Feature
Code each supplier’s bills the same way, every time
Tell Nella how a supplier’s bills are coded once. It fills them in, flags the ones that don’t follow, and lets you approve the ones that do together.

How do supplier rules work in Nella?
A supplier rule is your standing instruction for one supplier: the account its bills go to, and optionally the tax code and a ceiling. You set it in ChatGPT or Claude (“always code PC Complete to Office Expenses”), or accept one Nella proposes when your last three or more bills from that supplier agree. From then on, Nella fills the account in from the rule when you post a bill from that supplier, and says so; its nightly check flags any bill coded differently; and Xero draft bills that follow their rule, with nothing else to check, can be approved together on one card.
Try it on your own books
Connect your accounting software and get your Nella Score in minutes. Nella Pro is free for 60 days, no card, including the entries you approve posted to your books. After that, Nella Free keeps reading your books, with no time limit.

You set the rule
In ChatGPT or Claude, in your own words, or by accepting a rule Nella proposes from three or more past bills that agree. You can list your rules and switch one off at any time.
Bills fill in from it
When you post a bill from that supplier and name no account, Nella’s card fills the account from the rule (on Xero, the tax code too) and says it came from the rule.
Nightly check
Every night Nella checks the bills waiting in Xero and the bills entered in QuickBooks and FreeAgent, and flags any coded differently from the supplier’s rule.
Ready drafts, one card
Xero drafts that follow their rule, within its ceiling, where Nella found nothing to check, are listed on one card — up to ten. One press approves them; each can be undone on its own.
What it does not do
Stated plainly, because a figure you can trust is one whose limits you know.
- Nothing is approved without you. Drafts that follow their rule are approved together only when you press the card’s button.
- A supplier’s first bill, a bill over the rule’s ceiling or over Nella’s maximum per transaction, and any bill with something to check are never on the ready card; they are checked one by one.
- A rule that is wrong is applied until you change it. The card says when a rule filled a field, so you can see it.
- A rule is kept in Nella. Setting one changes nothing in your books.
Approving drafts together is for Xero, where bills from Hubdoc or Xero’s own capture wait as drafts. QuickBooks and FreeAgent create bills directly, so there rules fill the card and flag bills that don’t follow them. Nella never moves money.
Nella provides financial information and education, not accounting or tax advice. Nella shows you the numbers. When a question needs professional judgment, such as a filing or a tax decision, Nella says so and points you to a qualified accountant.
Where the data comes from
Nella connects to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent. Nothing in your books changes unless you give permission in Nella.
